LRGB: First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones and Fire With Fire by Penelope King

Little Review for Great Books

In the LRGB this week I got a mix and match of YA/Adult Paranormal Romance. These books were on my TBR pile for a while and I'm pretty glad to have enough time to try them!

Series:
Author: Darynda Jones
Format: Mass Market Paperback
Pages: 310
Published: February 1st 2011
Publisher: St. Martin's Press

A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper

Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light.” But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

My rating; 5/5
This title was on my TBR pile for a while. When I started my blog, I didn't even know this author and series. I saw a few (many) reviews for this book and series and I knew that I had to kick my butt and check for an opportunity to read it once and for all.

This story was hilarious, funny, fast-paced, filled with thrilling action and awesome, intense and sexy scenes, really sad moments, the bad boy of my dream and a kick-ass heroine. WOW, this book was simply wow. I liked Charley' past and what she become from it. I liked her supernatural abilities and every interaction she had with other characters from this book. Always the right thing to say within easy reach, I liked her sparks!

One other thing I liked, you see me coming: Reyes Farrow... OMG! This is the one thing I will say for Reyes because I might spill out some good and greasy spoiler! You will have to read the book to know what I'm talking about!

Page Turner: Yes!

Series: Yes!  (Charley Davidson #1)

Stand Alone: No, I recommend you to read the entire series!

Hotness: Reyes.... Hmmmm.....

Proserpine Recommendation: If you are a PNR / UF lovers you should totally put this series on your Must-Read list! BUY/BORROW/STEAL, whatever it takes!

Series: (Demonblood #2)
Author: Penelope King
Format: eBook
Pages: 292
Published: October 31st 2011
Publisher: Ascension Press

It's been over two months since Lucky and Liora decided their fate outside the cave. Over two months since Kieron left to finish his mission.

So why hasn't he returned?

Crushed and confused, Liora finds comfort with a mysterious stranger, a guy whose motives include more than just healing Liora's broken heart. Meanwhile, Lucky finds herself in the arms of an old friend...the one who has always laid claim to her true soul.

When the reason for Kieron's disappearance becomes known, loyalties will be tested, friends will be betrayed, loves will be lost, and hope will be found. Once and for all, Lucky and Liora will have to choose their destiny. And not everyone will survive their choice.

"Fire with Fire" is approx. 70,000 words/ 300 printed pages. It contains scenes of violence and strong sexual situations. It is recommended for mature teens and adults.

My rating: 5/5
This series is awesome! I really enjoyed the first novel, but the second one is even better. The Bad Guys are totally freaks and I was able to clearly see them into my mind because the author: Penelope King is a great writer.

Then if you have already read the first book, you know that Kieron left Lucky and Liora at the end of the first book, but he was meant to return. Liora, who isn't aware of Lucky life, fight and behaviour, don't know where Kieron is. Eventually she will find an interest in the guy in town.

Both Lucky and Liora are great different characters. They are the contrary of each other, trap in the same body. I loved the insecurity that Liora was feeling and I craved the independence and kick-ass attitude of Lucky. Ms. King succeeded in making us falling in love with both girls of this strange character.

The ending was a big surprise for me; I didn't expect that kind of ''situation''. It was so intense emotionally and tears dropping! But in the same time, probably for a better future!

Page Turner: Yes!

Series: Yes!  (Demonblood #2)

Stand Alone: No, I recommend you to read the first book in this series first!

Hotness: Kieron, Bones

Proserpine Recommendation: This series really blow up my mind, the characters are intense and the plot is overwhelming! I recommend you to read this sequel or start the first book if you like everything YA/ mature teen PNR/ UF! A Must-Read series! Buy-Borrow!
