Never Seduce a Scot features a remarkable woman whose rare gift teaches a gruff Scottish warrior how to listen with his heart.

Eveline Armstrong is fiercely loved and protected by her powerful clan, but outsiders consider her “touched.” Beautiful, fey, with a level, intent gaze, she doesn’t speak. No one, not even her family, knows that she cannot hear. Content with her life of seclusion, Eveline has taught herself to read lips and allows the outside world to view her as daft. But when an arranged marriage into a rival clan makes Graeme Montgomery her husband, Eveline accepts her duty—unprepared for the delights to come. Graeme is a rugged warrior with a voice so deep and powerful that his new bride can hear it, and hands and kisses so tender and skilled that he stirs her deepest passions.

Graeme is intrigued by the mysterious Eveline, whose silent lips are ripe with temptation and whose bright, intelligent eyes can see into his soul. As intimacy deepens, he learns her secret. But when clan rivalries and dark deeds threaten the wife he has only begun to cherish, the Scottish warrior will move heaven and earth to save the woman who has awakened his heart to the beautiful song of a rare and magical love.

My rating: 5/5

Firstly I wanted to say that Maya Banks has made a lovely acknowledgement to her husband at the end of this book. I wanted to mention it because I think it was the first time that I read a passionate and heartwarming acknowledgement!

I discovered Maya Banks through her McCabe Trilogy and I was blown away by her talent and her writing. I'm a huge fan of Historical Romance with Highlanders and I'm always looking for more books from Ms. Banks, to read and enjoy.

Highlander Most Wanted (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs, #2)When I saw that beautiful cover on Goodreads, I was so happy to have another Highlander series, but then I read the blurb and I was flabbergasted! The main female character is deaf!?! Yes! Eveline is one of my favorite characters in all Historical Romance stories. With her disability, she will find her way through her enemy stronghold.

At first I couldn't think it was possible to have a deaf character in a book, but Maya Banks totally rock it with Eveline.

The Montgomerys and the Armstrongs are two sworn enemy. Nothing can bring them to an arrangement, but the King of England has other matters in mind. To bring these two Scots clans together at last and in peace, he declare that the Chief of the Montgomerys, Graeme, will marry the young Eveline Armstong, the only daughter of the Armstrong chieftain. Both clans aren't consensual, but what the King wants, the King has! (Oh my! I'm already swooning!)
In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) Never Love a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #3)

I liked the fact that both of them (Graeme and Eveline) were into a situation they didn't want, didn't ask but keep their heads up and faces the consequences. I liked that Graeme's finally stand up to Eveline's wellness. They will learn to love each other through some funny interactions both also terrible situations, you can imagine!

Eveline is a strong woman. She was able to push aside her fear and make her parent, family and clan, proud of her. She's also an intelligent person who is able to see the true personality of someone. She's also a fascinating character because she's deaf but can read on the lips. She isn't a character apart.

Graeme was kind of a complex character. He wants what is better for his family and clan but has no choice to accept a supposed daft bride that won't be able to perform her duty.

Overall, this book was a constant surprise since the first page until the end. I'm eager to read the second book of this trilogy!

Page Turner: Yes!

Series: Yes! (The Montgomerys and Armstrongs #1)

Stand Alone: Yes, since the second book wouldn't be release until March 2013, but right after, you might want to read the entire set!

Hotness: Graeme, even if the description didn't make him a super model, I like his strong features that make him different and maybe more realistic!

Proserpine Recommendation: Great new series by an established author. If you crave Historical Romance, but mostly with Highlanders and Scots characters, this book is for you! BUY/BORROW/STEAL, whatever it takes!

  2. I can't wait for Jace's book. His and Ash's interactions with Mia were some of my favorite parts of this book. I'm so glad we saw the tender and doting side of them with Mia. That will help me with each of their own books when they act like asses with other women. I loved their hypocrisy when it came to Mia!
