Blogging Change My life!

Today marks a momentous occasion on the PJV. This post is the 1000th post. *stop pause and sit back and stare at that*

I know a few other blogs around my same age have reached 1000 posts a few months ago, and this number is not really intrinsical to achievement. It doesn't mean 1000 quality posts, technically someone could do 1000 posts in one day. And goodness knows I've put out some questionable material. It is just a crazy little number, one that says, "Damn I had a lot to get off my chest."

Do y'all want to know details? Because I would like to hear how book blogging changed your life. Here are few highlights from me.

Blogging changed my life by making me discovered news authors and news books that I totally fall in love with
Blogging changed my life by making me discovered new fantastic people all around the world and on other blog

Blogging changed my life by introducing me to a new world that included Twitter, Blogger, Facebook pages, Photobucket,...

Blogging changed my life by giving me the opportunities to accomplish myself in something especially for me (it's all about the book!) and I needed it

Blogging changed my life by helping me with my english! (I'm a French Canadian!)

Blogging changed my life by keeping me sane (no kidding...)

Do you want to participate? I want to see how Blogging changed your life. If you decide to do a post, even if you do it next week, I've included a linky that you can post your Blogging Changed My life posts…

Pretty When She Cries
by
Sarah Kate

ebook

Published August 15th 2011 by Sarah Kate Books

A dark, gritty and sexually explicit novella that confronts you with moral torment as you try to decide if it's right to be aroused by such brutality.

At a gas station on her way to visit her boyfriend, 22 year old Nicole Hudson is abducted by a serial rapist. She's taken to a secluded farmhouse where she is forced into horrific acts of sexual abuse.

"Pretty When She Cries" is a book that will either leave you traumatised or have you searching deeper in your mind about what arouses you and why.

Far more than a quick erotica read, if you take the risk. Will you make it to the end, in the hope of a suitable catharsis?

My rating:
 4 / 5

At first I wasn’t sure if I want to read this book. After reading the summary I was torn between the desire to know more and a little disgust with my desire. Why a book on this subject? The cover and the book's title caught my eye. I was curious and went to the website of the author and I discovered that I could read the first 2 chapter of the book. After only a few lines, the reader is thrown into the action of this creepy story. I was stun by the speed of how this story unfolds.

Honest, I read the entire book, especially to see what would happen with this poor Nicole. Story with abused or raped women are not my type! I was also curious to read a book about rape .... curiosity may be unhealthy, but I must admit that I like discovering new thing! I think that a normal person can feel a little disturbed at the idea of wanting to read this sort of thing. But after reading this I realized that this kind of book is especially created to disturb and the author has done very well to get me out of my comfort zone! You should know that the sex scenes, or rather rape scenes are very well described in the book. There is nothing hidden, tampered with or minimized to preserve the drive. The intensity is at its height almost from beginning to end. The reader is invaded by a number of new emotions (especially for me) and I think it's good sometimes to read other things, to be disturbed in are daily lives.

On my reading, I had some apprehension when it come to Nicole’s fate. I wondered if she would eventually develop into Stockholm syndrome and fall in love with her attacker. Finally, this book surprised me more than once. I was not expecting that kind of ending and I think that's one reason that made me enjoy this book in a way. The author accurately describes the action, characters, environment, and her writing is amazing.

I've seen movies with raped women and I have always this funny and weird feeling when I see this kind of thing. I think the author has succeeded in this purpose with me since reading Pretty When She Cries make me feeI the same. I was left uncomfortable, even after finishing the book I still think of it.Some parts are harder than others and some are even ugly (for me).  I wished to learn more about Nicole, but it's so unnecessary in this book and I understand why the author didn’t put emphasis on the past of Nicole. However, I had a hard time identifying myself to the character. Yes, she is raped and not me but it's still a human being.

I do not think this book should be banned. I understand that many people like that disturb kind of novels, and different thinking, but I do not think this story is more or less disturbing that some BDSM or hard core erotic books appearing on the sites selling book. Yet I have seen books on these sites selling stories between young girls and men of a certain age ... I didn’t know what note I should give, I hesitated between 3.5 and 4 stars. I enjoyed the work and the determination of the author. The story is dramatic, explosive, and the reader can really feel the emotions and sensations of Nicole. I believe the author succeed in reaching the readers and especially to keep them in suspense.  I can't wait to see what the author Sarah Kate would do next.

I really love black angel kind of wings! All flawless and silky like the first picture (but bigger), and I trully like the fairy kind too like the second picture, maybe a mix of both!

Eternal Rider by Larissa Ione

Eternal Rider (Lord of Deliverance # 1)
by
Larissa Ione

Published March 29th 2011by Grand Central Publishing

Summary

They are here. THEY ride. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

His name is Ares, and the fate of mankind rests on his shoulders powerful. If he falls to the forces of evil, the world falls too. As one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, he is far stronger than any mortal, order history even he cannot fight destiny forever. Not when his own brother plot against HIM.

Yet there is one last hope. Gifted in a way other humans can not gold-will not understand, Cara Thornhart is the key to both this Horseman's safety history and doom. Goal Involving Cara will prove treacherous, even beyond the maddening, dangerous desire That Sixteen of the themes the time theymeet. Staving off for Eternal Darkness could have a staggering cost: Cara's life.

Rating 5.5/ 5

The four horsemen have no mercy and they will do all they can to avoid the Apocalypse, even kill.

Eternal Rider is the first book in the series: Lord of Deliverance by Larissa Ione. I really liked this book; it was just perfect for me! I have great hope for the second book in the series: Immortal Rider due out in December. I totally fell in love with this new story! In fact, this is the story of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse reinvented. I love stories that have a well-known legend in the background. I appreciate the stories related to biblical myths as demons and angels. It is also my first story with Hellhounds and I like the beasts and the fact that they are an important part of the book.

Eternal Rider is my first book of the author Larissa Ione and I was not disappointed! I was impressed by the realism and details in the book. Sometimes I would have believed that I was before the Bible or in a church. In the opening paragraphs, the action is lively and we want more. But soon with the arrival of Cara, everything seems to stop and for two or three chapters this is quite long. Then were projected into the action without stopping until the end of the book!

The relationship between Cara and Ares is a bit long to start too; I even asked myself if it would finally have something between them! At the same time it makes the relationship more simple and realistic. Do not forget that Cara is human! The sex scenes are hot and well described without exaggeration. That's make you immediately want to be in Cara's place!

I enjoyed the end of the book, that's not all a Happy Ending done and it also allows the author to have many doors open for future books.

I loved all the main characters: Ares, Reseph, Thanatos, Limos and Cara and each have their own personal issues:

Ares is the character of the male dominant, possessive, who loves to fight and who has a personal vengeance.

Reseph is the most relaxed, easy and flexible of the four knights, which means that we do not expect at all to what will happen to him.

Thanatos will probably be my favourite character from the series and I look forward to read his story. He is very enigmatic and mysterious. I wonder how the author will find him a mate. He's very special and I like the history that surrounds the figure of death! He called me already!

Limos is a very interesting character because she’s both a bitch and the little sister you always dreamed of having! She's a real fighter and she did not need to her brothers to kick some ass, I look forward to reading her story (Immortal Rider).

Cara is finally a human who has a gift that allows her to survive through the book. She's very human, with a lifestyle (pink pyjamas) and human traditions (kiss on the lips), but she's also strong, down to earth, open minded and understandable. She doesn't imagine being in a dream like most heroines at the beginning of book. She quickly realizes in what kind of nightmare she's going thru.

I liked that the villain is truly evil in this story. That change of all the bad guy that does the ordering thing but remains in the background. Its makes me wonder how the author will be able to finish the series and when I am concerned it's always a good sign!

I recommend this book to all fans of Larissa Ione because I don't think you will be disappointed and others like me who are new fans: Eternal Rider must be in your next reading! Go get it!

Love this cover! The mix of color for the letters and black and white picture of Ares really did catch my eyes at the library! And honestly, this is why I took the book! And as you know I love tattooed man....!

Little Books Reviews: Gideon by Jacquelyn Frank

Gideon (Nightwalkers #2)
by
Jacquelyn Frank

Published June 1st 2007 by Zebra

They're called the Nightwalkers - proud, ancient beings who live in the shadows, existing just beyond the human world. But there are also dangerous humans who hunt them - necromancers who use the blackest magic to manipulate them. And for a Demon named Gideon, the battle against these evil forces will soon be all too personal...For a thousand years, Gideon has healed his people. And as the oldest surviving male of his race, his wisdom has always been respected without question. But Gideon knows that even he is vulnerable to the powerful, primitive desires that befall his kind during Hallowed moons - and nine years ago that truth was hammered home when he found himself claiming Magdalegna, the Demon King's sister, in a wild embrace. Horrified by his lack of control, he left her wanting and furious - and then exiled himself for the better part of a decade. Now, with necromancers threatening his people - and Magdalegna nearly their victim - Gideon must face another truth. He and the beautiful, stubborn Magdalegna are destined to be together, to share a love as deep and old as time itself. But first he needs to regain her trust. Then he'll have to save her life...

Rating 4/5

I really enjoy the second book in the NightWalkers Series, but I must say that I prefered the first one! I was wondering what kind of love story Jacquelyn Frank could end up with Gideon and I wasn't deceived. The one thing I didn't like was that I knew who was the bad guy before the end. I prefer when it's a suprise, when you couldn't even conceive that it was that person all this time! But anyway I recommend this book for all Jacquelyn Frank freaks and even to news fans! It's a must-read serie to any paranormal romance lover!

My reviews of Exiled by M.R Merrick!

Exiled
by
M.R Merrick

Published July 1st 2011 by M.R. Merrick (first published June 28th 2011)

Summary

Chase Williams is a demon hunter in the Circle, or at least he was supposed to be. Failing to develop any elemental magic on his fifteenth birthday left him exiled in a world full of half-demons, and no hunters to protect him.

When Chase discovers the Circle's plan to unlock a portal and unleash pure-blood demons into the world, he vows to stop them. Knowing he can't do it alone however, he accepts help from Rayna, a sexy witch with an attitude and a secret.

As the pair attempt to stop the Circle, Chase realizes working with a demon is only half the battle. When they find themselves in the middle of the Circle's plan, it leaves one of them to decide what their friendship is worth, and the other's life depending on it.

My Rating 5/5

You will be transported into a world that won't leave your mind.

M.R Merrick has created a fantastic world of Hunters. And I can say that I really have enjoying my ride into this new world with demons, vampires, hunters and much more! The author has a great imagination. The reading is easy because the author has a beautiful writing and the actions never end. M.R Merrick knows how to put his characters in action and keep the reader in suspense. There is so much creativity in this book, you can't be hooked.

I must admit that I read the first 6 chapters into 10 minutes. And it was fantastic. You are transported into a world both magical and diabolical. Exiled is actually the first book I won so thanks to Jessica of Taking it One Book at a Time and also to the author M.R Merrick for the giveaway! But it is also the second e-book that I read, so I couldn't read it as fast as I would have done (having a paper copy). It took me more than 5 days to finally finish the book, but only because I didn't always have the book at hand. You must understand that reading Exiled from the first lines you will be push into this overwhelming story. And probably like me, every time you will have to drop it, you wish you could read it again.

I like the fact that it's written from the point of view of the boy. It's quite rare and not always convincing, but it is not the case in Exiled! I loved the legends and myths that surround this fantastic world as the story of the goddess Serephina.

The characters are very interesting and well developed. I always loved the female character with a strong personality that can kick-ass! Chase seems to fear nothing and even if he had a rather difficult childhood education. I see that the character does not fall into a total decline due to negative factors that have occurred in the past. On the contrary it makes them stronger. I love the fact that you really can feel or live the same things as the characters du to the pleasant writing of the author.

I like the relationship between the two main characters Rayna and Chase. Since this is a YA book I didn't expect erotic scenes, but I really enjoyed the scenes of teasing between the two. That throws me back into high school and when I was blushing when I saw the guy of my dreams!

And the cover is amazing! When you will read this book, you will understand all the meaning of this cover!

I really enjoy this book and I totally recommend to YA books lovers, (even if you're not, you should read it!). I'm looking forward for the next book of M.R Merrick. I’m a new fan!
